DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE SAYS THAT THE BIDEN LAPTOP IS NOT PART OF A RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN; MAINSTREAM MEDIA STARTS COVERING THE STORY; BIDEN CAMPAIGN CALLS A 4 DAY “LID”, WILL NOT BE “SEEN AGAIN” UNTIL THURSDAY’S DEBATE

“[Joe Biden] will not be seen again after today until Thursday night,” CBS's Ed O'Keefe is reporting, as the campaign has decided to take four days off with just 2 weeks left until the election. This after more details came out about the computer and emails purportedly showing, among other things, that Joe Biden may have received a payout from a Chinese energy company through his son Hunter.
And now the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe is saying that the computer is not part of a Russian disinformation campaign. Ratcliffe was responding to claims by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) that the U.S. intelligence community was investigating the laptop as Russian disinformation. “We know that this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin,” Schiff said of the emails on CNN.
“Let me be clear: the intelligence community doesn’t believe that,” DNI Ratcliffe said, “because there is no intelligence that supports that. And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff, or any member of Congress.” Ratcliffe heads the seventeen U.S. government intelligence agencies.
“Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign,” the Director of National Intelligence said. “This is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”
“In this case, Adam Schiff saying this is part of a disinformation campaign and that the intelligence community has assessed and believes that — that is simply not true,” he said. “Whether its Republicans or Democrats, if they try to leverage the intelligence community for political gain, I won’t allow it.”
Fox News is also reporting that a second senior intelligence official is verifying Ratcliffe's assessment.
“Ratcliffe is 100% correct. There is no intelligence at this time to support Chairman Schiff's statement that recent stories on Biden's foreign business dealings are part of a smart campaign that ‘comes from the Kremlin,’” the senior intelligence official told Fox News.
The emails in question were first obtained by the New York Post. They purportedly show that Hunter Biden introduced his father, then Vice-President Joe Biden, to a top executive at his Ukrainian natural gas firm shortly before the Vice President used the threat of withholding U.S. aid to get Ukraine to fire the prosecutor who was investigating the company.
And a separate email from 2017 appears to indicate that Joe Biden was offered a payout from a Chinese energy company through his son. Fox says another person mentioned in the email has verified its authenticity.
Joe Biden, meanwhile, has suddenly begun avoiding the media. CNN anchor Jake Tapper called Biden’s campaigning efforts the “opposite of the word tireless,” after Biden took Saturday off.
And on Sunday, after speaking in North Carolina, Biden avoided questions from reporters and headed back to his campaign plane.
Now word that he is taking four full days off with just 2 weeks left until the election has many pundits scratching their heads. His campaign says he is preparing for the debate on Thursday.
News that Biden is “calling a lid” for the next four days comes just as the mainstream media may finally be taking the lid off the story. NBC this afternoon became one of the first major outlets to acknowledge the laptop story after all but denying its existence since it broke last week. But whether the media begin asking critical questions of the Biden campaign, or merely come to his aid, is yet to be seen.
