Welsh getaway part 6

There are a lot of Castles in Wales. This one is in Mumbles. Got to have a look while I am here. The ladies on the reception asked if I was eligible for the concession rate. It's rude to ask a lady her age, ha ha. I suppose I should be flattered that they needed to ask. Yes, I am a pensioner, so I only paid £4 to get in. A brochure was handed to me so I could study the history as I walked around. Here is a link to the Friends of Oystermouth web site.

There are plenty of views as you walk around the castle walls.

By the time I had finished the rain had started again. It was 3.30pm. I might as well head back to the car. I decided to take a look at other beaches along the south coast of the peninsula. Rhossili is supposed to be particularly spectacular. I was finding it very difficult to follow the road signs. The Welsh language is  confusing. The roads were very narrow in places, which meant a lot of stopping and starting at passing places. Not knowing what is around the corner makes me very cautious. Passing cars with only a few inches between us, and driving with my nearside wheels going off the edge of the road, is not much fun.
After an hour of that I decided to give up. Just give me signs for the M4 so I can get out of here. And so I drove through Swansea looking for the motorway. Eventually I found it. I went past Bridgend, past Cardiff, and past Newport. Eventually parking up at Magor services where the M4 splits from the M48, depending which Severn crossing you wish to take.
Yes I missed out on the beaches, but to me a beach is a beach is a beach. They all have sand and or rocks. I have seen plenty of them in different parts of our coastline.
So, my third night out was at another services. Total for the three was £35. I would be heading home from here, but taking the scenic route. I am not going to get stuck in traffic around Birmingham again.
The holiday continues. Where did I go next.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona
